For beginners, the Grass project may be the simplest one, and you may not even need a wallet, just register an account and download a browser plugin. Of course, there are some pitfalls to watch out for when dealing with this project.
Register an Account#
-
Register an account: Visit Grass website
-
Fill in your email, username, and information. The Referral Code will be included by default, if not, you can enter ZJfcN0cYnJpGrpm
-
Click Register to complete the registration process
Download Chrome Extension, Share Network Bandwidth#
-
Visit Grass Chrome Extension to add the extension to Chrome
-
Clicking the extension will automatically retrieve login information from the grass website. If you are using a VPN, you may encounter network connection failures, so you need to turn off the VPN.
How to Resolve VPN and Grass Extension Conflict#
The Grass extension requires not using a VPN. As I am using Ubuntu system with Clash, modifying the rules is quite cumbersome without a visual tool. So I tried the following two ways to avoid this conflict:
-
Add ignored hosts in the network proxy on Ubuntu (Setting -> Network -> Network Proxy), but it works inconsistently, not sure if the configuration is correct:
-
Disable the system proxy on Ubuntu, and use the SwitchyOmega plugin in Chrome for selective proxy. This method is quite convenient, as if some websites cannot be accessed, the plugin will provide prompts to add them to the proxy rules. Currently, I am using this method.
To use SwitchyOmega, you need to configure a proxy rule first:
Set it to use Auto Switch mode, and if you encounter a website that cannot be accessed, you can click on the failed resource to manually add Proxy rules:

Although I don't know what this is for, but since everyone is doing it, I'll join in. Who knows, it might actually be useful in the future, and I might earn some extra money.
